DiY Gift List

The time to start making Christmas gifts was yesterday!

Here is a list of DIY’s I’m looking to make ASAP, in case you are needing inspiration.

(These pictures are from Pinterest. I’ll make an update post for any I make myself!)

  1. Tissue Paper Candles

I have been excited to try this one out.

It seems cheap and easy- I have the tissue paper and am waiting for the candles to come in.

What I love about it is that you can go really aesthetic and create something really beautiful, or throw someone’s face on there and make it a funny, yet practical gift.

From the videos I’ve seen-

1. print your images onto tissue paper (while taped onto printer paper so it actually feeds into the machine

2. lay out design on candle how you’d like (you can cut out the pieces if you prefer)

3. apply heat with a blow dryer or an iron.

Make it stand out

If you don’t like pillar candles, you can always design a custom label you like and affix it to the front of your glass jar. I love how this one adds art to someone home.

Bonus points if you poured the candle yourself!

2. Shell Candles (or in Random Containers)

Sorry to have candles on here twice, but these DIY’s are too cool not to try. I would genuinely love to receive any of these!

Personally, I have a few shells I’ve been holding onto and might use them to make candles for myself.

Not sure how these peels last over time, but candles are made for burning! Perfect for the environmentally minded person in your life.

3. Air Dry Clay Dishes

Make it stand out

If you also have some shells you’ve been hoarding- these would be so easy to make from air dry clay. Try some other trinkets you’ve saved for fun imprints to match your gift recipients aesthetic. You can even put a clear coating over for a glossy finish, like pictured here.

Another direction you can go with air dried clay- make a trinket dish for a friend with some little trinkets of your own.

4. Whimsical Knits

I would scream if someone made this for me.

There are other patterns for this scarf on this site that I am obsessed with- the alligator, bunny, kitty pattern- OMG.

5. Custom Apparel

All the videos I have seen for this have looked SO easy. You can take it in so many directions, but also- what a great way to give your floral arrangements more use?

Getting into hand embroidery is very cost friendly, and a great way to personalize a gift. You can go for their name like in this picture, or go with a design they’d like, or quote they like.

In case you don’t want to make it yourself- this is the shop where I found this picture! https://www.etsy.com/listing/948951627/custom-embroidered-t-shirt-personalized?epik=dj0yJnU9RTFxZk1CcXJoOUVyWi15NUN2WklvYnpvUUktaEVGRFcmcD0wJm49bkdjaWxySmhTd3hjUEtvNW5rcGkxQSZ0PUFBQUFBR1ZXZXc0
